From A Gurney To Paradise
This week has been a roller coaster of emotions for me and my loved ones. After a sleep deprived few weeks of spinning the wheel of mortality in my mind, throwing all sorts of scenarios against the wall, I finally had my appointment Tuesday at the Placer Center For Health.
Doctors examined my esophagus, stomach, abdomen and lower GI in hopes of discovering what has been causing an internal lightning storm of discomfort in my body. Several thousand dollars of tests have revealed nothing. Fit as a fiddle according to my doctor. So, hopefully with some dietary and other lifestyle changes, I can slowly phase away these symptoms.
Now the real excitement begins. In seven days I will marry my girlfriend of eight years, Amelia. Single status no more, and I couldn’t be happier. I am delighted to finally be able to refer to the woman who has loved not only me, but has supported, protected and cared for my daughter as well, as my wife. I’m a pretty lucky man.
In one week our feet will sink into the sands of Bonzai Beach on The North Shore in Oahu, and at sunset we will exchange our vows…in front of a minister named Kermit. And of course there’s a 40% chance of rain.
What a week. Time to celebrate!
